Members of the Dutchess County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at a Cannon Street home on Wednesday, Feb. 21, following an investigation into narcotics sales that were taking place at that location and in the immediate surrounding area.

Officials said that the warrant was executed without incident, and Joseph Hooper, who lives at the residence, was taken into custody after the Task Force recovered approximately 150 bags of heroin, scales and packaging materials. Nearly $5,000 in cash was also seized.

Hooper was arrested and charged with a felony count of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell. Following arraignment, Hooper was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail. Additional charges are pending. Hooper is due back in court later this year to answer the charges.
